The Kitchen of Oz

Every year Pantone announces it's colour of the year and for 2013 they chose PANTONE 17-5641 or Emerald.

As a colour Emerald has variety of symbolic representations for different cultures. It is the birth stone for anyone born in the month of May as well as the astrological gem sone for Taurus, Gemini & sometimes Cancer. Some cultures thought the emerald would heal any disease of the eye. Others believe Lucky for love, give your lover an emerald to stay faithful. In several cultures the emerald was the symbol for fertilising rain. In the Christian faith it is the symbol of faith and hope.

The colour Emerald is a Lively, Radiant, Lush Green of Elegance and Beauty that Enhances our Sense of Well-Being, Balance and Harmony.

For most of us we spend approx 416 hours a year in the Kitchen; preparing meals, relaxing or even socialising. So why not bring a little Emerald to your kitchen? Here's 9 examples how Emerald could transform your Kitchen into a room of Well-Being, Balance & Harmony.

Four Fab Armchairs for Any Living Space

What could be more comfy than curled in your deluxe armchair with a good book? There are so many to choose from these days, so here's some helpful tips to choosing the right Armchair.

1. Stick to Your Budget:
Always start with how much you want to spend. Choosing a chair can become an emotional purchase, so stick to your budget as there is always another chair similar for a cheaper price somewhere else.

2. Do Your Homework:
For some it's easy. They just walk into a store and say "I'll have it. That will look great in my living room". But for most it can be stressful, so do your homework.

Know what type of chair you want and what type of fabrics will compliment the room and the already existing furniture. Is the space you're putting it in a formal, family or small setting?

Understand the dimensions of the armchair or it could be like a scene from Goldilocks, Too Big, Too Small or Just Right?

3. Location Location Location:
This is probably the most important process of purchasing any armchair. Ask yourself "Where will this go in this room?" If you are placing it in a large living space you may need to look at armchairs that are larger to fill the void as appose to a a smaller space like an office or bedroom.

For most people purchasing an armchair is like buying a car, it is a long term investment. Follow the basic steps but have fun purchasing your new best friend and buy for comfort along with style.
